Pompeii came under the Romans in 200 BC. A severe earthquake nearly destroyed much of the city in 63 AD. 16 years later Mt. Vesuvius erupted and the rest is history. Pompeii was truly amazing and only 2/3rds has been excavated. There were frescos that were still in very good shape. You’ll see by the photos. After our tour, it was off to our final city, Rome.
